Thom Straley

Thom has been a devoted member of J-Bar-C Cowboy Church for six years, drawn to the church’s genuine and loving community shortly after moving to Palmer. As a church elder and lay pastor, he is passionate about serving others and supporting the various ministries at J-Bar-C. Thom accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in August 1993 at the age of 30. His guiding Bible verse, which inspires him through challenging times, is John 10:10:

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

David Sloane

David Sloane, born in Corsicana, Texas, was baptized into the faith at 18. After high school, he served in the Navy, attended Stephen F. Austin University, and married. He worked 39 years in the electrical utility sector’s engineering and design department, retiring in 2016. A father to one son and grandfather to one grandson, David serves J-Bar-C Cowboy Church as a lay pastor and church elder, dedicated to the Lord and the church community. His guiding Bible verse is Psalm 23:1:

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.”

Ron Townley

Ron Townley has been a cornerstone of J-Bar-C Cowboy Church in Palmer, Texas, since its inception, serving in diverse roles including church elder, lay pastor, maintenance, sound tech, and various ministries. Married to Saundra for 34 years, they raised their two sons in the church, guiding them to become godly men and career firefighters. Beyond his dedication to J-Bar-C, Ron has volunteered with the Palmer Fire Department for over 28 years, exemplifying service to both faith and community. His guiding Bible verse is Galatians 6:9:

Since joining J-Bar-C in 2017 with his wife, where they also wed, he experienced a spiritual reawakening, marked by his baptism on December 31, 2024. He now serves as a lay pastor, supports the Young Adults ministry, leads the Kids Corral Ministry, and founded “Bridging the Gap” ministry.

Mitch McLain

Mitch McLain has served as a lay pastor at J-Bar-C Cowboy Church since its early days, driven by his love for God and a desire to grow His kingdom. Guided by the Holy Spirit, Mitch counsels and supports the community, having initiated and handed off numerous ministries while remaining open to wherever he is led. Saved at the age of eight, he has been rooted in faith throughout his life, continually seeking to grow spiritually. His favorite Bible verse, which shapes his perspective, is Romans 12:2:

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Mark Mitchell

Mark Mitchell, born and raised in Waxahachie, Texas, was baptized at 16 and has been a faithful member of J-Bar-C Cowboy Church since its second service in December 2006. He served as the church’s first elder at Pastor Reggie’s request and has led teams while supporting various ministries. Married to Melissa since 2003, Mark is a proud father of four sons and “Poppy” to five grandchildren. Since 1998, he has worked in the rebar sector of the construction industry. In 2022, Mark and Melissa moved his mother back to Texas, sharing the responsibility of her care. Committed to serving God and the church, Mark is always ready to answer the call. His guiding Bible verse is Isaiah 6:8:

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” (Isaiah 6:8, NIV)

Clint Sparks

Clint Sparks serves as a lay pastor and has been a devoted elder at J-Bar-C Cowboy Church in Palmer, Texas, for three years, driven by his passion to lead people to their Savior, Jesus Christ. As a horseback greeter, he welcomes visitors alongside his horse, Dakota, a true blessing from the Lord. Clint also participates in mounted shooting, team sorting, and play days in the church’s arena, contributing to the vibrant Circuit Riders community. Lay Pastor | Mounted Shooting Ministry

Forre Bitner

Forre Bitner joined J-Bar-C Cowboy Church in Palmer, Texas, in March 2015 and quickly became a vital part of the community, serving as a prayer partner with Denise Higdon in the Sunday prayer circle before services. He has served multiple terms as a church elder and currently acts as a lay pastor. Married to Sharon Bitner since May 1995, they share a blended family of four children, 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Forre supports his wife with communion setup and bulletin distribution. He leads the Mounted Shooting Ministry, held on the second Saturday of each month, with great passion, though a 2017 back injury prevents him from riding. His guiding Bible verse is Philippians 4:6:

Steve Stout

Steve Stout found his church home and family at J Bar C Cowboy Church in 2009, where he has served faithfully as an Elder and currently as a Lay Pastor. A retired aircraft mechanic with 40 years of experience, including 33 years at Frito-Lay/PepsiCo, Steve now runs a thriving gunsmithing business that has kept him busy for the past five years.
Passionate about serving, Steve leads the Mended Fences Ministry, a men’s group focused on strengthening one another to stay on the narrow path of faith, embodying the principle that “Iron Sharpens Iron.” He cherishes spending time with his beautiful wife and family, and he is committed to building a strong, supportive church community through his ministry and leadership.

Kevin Cole is a dedicated Lay Pastor at J Bar C Cowboy Church, where he, his wife, and their two daughters have been active members since 2015. He serves tirelessly behind the scenes, managing the weekly bulletin, organizing outdoor Christmas displays, and supporting various ministries and events.

Denise Higdon

Denise has been a dedicated member of J-Bar-C Cowboy Church since its founding in February 2006, attending the very first service after praying for a church that felt like home. She has witnessed the church’s growth with pride and remains deeply committed to its community. Saved at the age of nine, Denise has lived as a Christian throughout her life, fully surrendering to the Lord. She currently serves as a Ministry Leader for the Bereavement Ministry and the Sunrise Ladies Bible Study. Her favorite Bible verse, which guides her faith, is John 3:16:

Jennifer Cole

Jennifer Cole is a passionate servant at J Bar C Cowboy Church, where she leads the Cowgirl Roundup women’s conference and serves on the Sister to Sister Prayer Team. A Palmer, Texas native, Jennifer and her husband have been part of J Bar C since 2015. In 2022, she took the helm of Cowgirl Roundup, a one-day event dedicated to encouraging women and fostering their connection with God. She joined the Sister to Sister Prayer Team in 2023, finding joy in praying with and supporting women in faith.
Her ministry journey deepened through a Triple C small group, where connecting with fellow believers inspired her to say “yes” to God’s call to serve. With 29 years of experience in event planning, Jennifer feels God is using her skills to create meaningful, spirit-filled gatherings that uplift women. Her heart is to provide spaces where women feel seen, valued, and reminded of God’s deep love for them. Whether serving on the decorations committee or supporting other ministries, Jennifer’s commitment to her church family shines through.

Kaylea Dailey, a passionate stay-at-home mom, has been a vibrant member of J Bar C Cowboy Church since 2015, where she attends with her husband, Ryan, and their 10-year-old son, Dawson. Married in 2012, Kaylea rededicated her life to Jesus in 2015, anchoring her faith in service. With a love for singing, she blesses the congregation as part of the worship band, and her talents extend to the arena, where she leads the Playday Ministry and oversees Tuesday night Playday practices. Kaylea also enjoys barrel racing and raises Mini Aussies and Toy Schnauzers, reflecting her love for animals and community. Her warm spirit and leadership make her a cherished part of J Bar C.

Ryan Dailey, a devoted husband and father, has been a faithful member of J Bar C Cowboy Church since 2015, alongside his wife, Kaylea, and their son, Dawson. Married in 2012, Ryan has served as a steadfast employee at Tucker Fuel and Oil in Hutchins, Texas, for 12 years. Raised in the church, he deepened his faith by being baptized in 2018. At J Bar C, Ryan is a vital part of the worship team, skillfully managing sound for the band, ensuring every service resonates with clarity. In the arena, he supports the Playday Ministry by assisting with events and Tuesday night practices, while also maintaining the arena grounds through watering, dragging, and tractor upkeep. Ryan’s servant heart and dedication strengthen the J Bar C community.

Chandell Straley is the heart behind Crafting for Christ at J Bar C Cowboy Church, where her lifelong passion for handmade treasures and creativity shines. Inspired by the crafted items in the Bible and her love for sharing Christ, Chandell leads this ministry to teach skills like whittling, rooted in cowboy tradition, or crafts like jars of jam paired with messages such as, “If you’re ever in a jam, give Jesus a try.

Lea Hunt

Lea Hunt is a devoted child and disciple of God, deeply passionate about growing in faith through studying His Word alongside other women who share her desire for spiritual growth. Leading a close-knit women’s group at J Bar C Church, Lea encourages participants to read the entire Bible, believing that a life for God requires understanding His teachings. Her Bible studies are carefully chosen to foster this commitment, and while the group is tight-knit, it warmly welcomes new members to join in “Growing Together.”
Married to Nick for 36 years, Lea cherishes their three remarkable daughters, their wonderful sons-in-law, and two beloved grandchildren. In her free time, she loves diving into Scripture and embarking on long camping adventures across the U.S. with Nick, exploring God’s creation together.

Holly Hobbs, a lifelong resident of Palmer, Texas, leads the “Whatever” Youth Group and the Decorations Ministry at J-Bar-C Cowboy Church. Married with four children and one grandchild, Holly has been deeply involved in the community through roles such as PTO, little league coaching, teaching content mastery, and coaching at Palmer ISD. Raised in church, she embraced Christian leadership in adulthood, finding purpose in guiding youth, which has strengthened her faith and commitment to leading by example. Holly believes the youth are the future and is honored to support their spiritual journey. Additionally, her passion for decorating allows her to use her God-given talents to beautify events, striving to make the world a prettier place one occasion at a time.
